Holes by Louis Sacher Free Essay

The novel Holes is written by Louis Sacher is about a camp called camp green lake in Texas in America. Bad boys would get sent to camp green lake and dig holes everyday and learn a lesson about what they done. They must dig one hole a day and if find anything would get the rest of the day off. One of the characters name is Zero A.K.A Hector zeroni.

In the beginning Zero was a ward of the state his mother had abandon him he was poor helpless person and couldn’t even read, one day he decided to steal a pair that were donated by a famous baseball superstar the shoe was supposed to be auction to an orphanage and raise money. Zero ran away with the pair of shoes as Zero ran he heard the cop’s siren Zero got scared and threw the shoes over the bridge. Zero about culpa days later was sent to camp green lake for stealing another pair of shoes. 

At camp green Lake Zero meet a boy name Stanley yelnats who was the kid that was sent to camp green lake for getting convicted for stealing the shoes that Zero originally stolen. Zero and Stanley became friends who hanged out with each other and soon became best friends.

Stanley changed Zero’s life because he taught Zero how to read spell and speak for himself. Zero learned how to stick up for himself and gain self confidence thanks to Stanley. Stanley would also stick up for zero. 

During camp green lake Zero ran away from camp green lake Stanley soon ran away to go look for Zero. Stanley found him but Zero wouldn’t go back to camp green lake instead they decided to climb gods thumb to find water. As they were climbing Stanley told him about the curse on his family. Zero and Stanley had become best friends. While they were climbing god’s thumb Zero fainted Stanley had to carry Zero up the mountain. Stanley had eventually made the top and Zero had woken up Stanley’s curse was broken. Later on Zero had told Stanley that it was Zero that stole the shoes, Zero was confident enough to tell Stanley. Stanley replied and said it was destiny. During that night on top of god’s thumb Stanley and Zero had decided to go and dig for treasure. They both eventually found it and later on Stanley’s lawyer came and took Stanley and Zero home.

After camp green lake Stanley had shared his treasure with Hector Zeroni. Hector had gone from being a poor useless person with no mum to being rich and Zero found his mum again. Camp green lake had become from being that digging camp to a fun Girl Scout camp. Now Hector Zeroni had become a happy kid with friends and was no longer a ward of the state.
